Sense of Smell

Description
Our sense of smell comes from small receptors inside (at the top) of our nose which transmit messages directly to our brain. The Learning Board has a button, which when pressed shows the flow of the scent from a flower being detected by the nose and messages sent to the brain. We can detect strong or weak, pleasant or unpleasant smells. 3 compartments at the bottom of the board accept different objects that the teacher places into them, such as fruit, flowers, spices or perfume for the children to smell. An interactive chart asks the children to divide objects into things we can and cannot smell and images will promote conversations about the subject developing children’s vocabulary.
