Addition Subtraction Learning Board

Description
This learning board focusses upon addition and subtraction using scale-sized components. It is divided into two halves (with a top and bottom set of numbered colourful painted strips). To use the board, all the blocks are placed onto the bottom half and then lifted one at a time onto the top half, arranging them to the left-hand side. As they are placed next to each other the total can be read off the scale graphically showing the process of addition. When pieces are moved from the top half to the bottom half the process is reversed and the quantity at the top is diminished – clearly showing the process of subtraction. What makes this board even more educational are that pieces come in singles, doubles, trebles and quadruples. In this way a child can carry out the operation of 1 + 4 using 2 pieces or 4 – 3 using two components. A simple, yet wonderful hands-on visual calculator.
