Description
Scientific understanding is based upon the observation of things via our senses and this board focuses children upon the sense of touch. Receptors under our skin inform us of all kinds of details about the things we touch - their texture, heat, smoothness, hardness, temperature and sharpness for example. Touch often provides us with a first response to things that are dangerous, such as 'too hot' and this Learning Board provides some images for discussion about how we might protect ourselves from these dangers, for example, by wearing gloves to protect our hands.
